“The national day of agricultural and food biodiversity”, the “TravelBio” project at the University of Palermo

“The national day of biodiversity of agricultural and food interest” will be held on May 28th starting from 9 am in the “Margherita De Simone” lecture hall of the Architecture Department of the University of Palermo. The initiative is part of the “TravelBio – Networked communities for the strengthening of the conservation of agrobiodiversity” designed to strengthen the awareness of civil society on issues of extreme interest for the community of farmers and consumers, with the involvement of the Sicilian Region, the University of Palermo and the Ministry of agriculture.

To open the day, institutional greetings from Massimo Midiri, rector of the University of Palermo; Francesco Lo Piccolo, director of the Architecture department; Salvatore Fiore, president of the order of agronomists and forestry doctors of the province of Palermo. Then the interventions of Dario Cartabellotta, general manager of the agriculture department of the Sicilian region (Agrobiodiversity and the regional vision); Dario Costanzo, of the technical-scientific committee of the research consortium for biological risk in agriculture (National and regional registry: tool for knowledge and rural development); Giuseppe Barbera, of the University of Palermo (Rural landscape and agrobiodiversity). Moderate interventions Francesco Sottile, from the University of Palermo and responsible for the project. The conclusions are entrusted to Rosario Di Lorenzo, president of the South-West section of the Georgofili Academy.
