GIOVINAZZO (BA) – DISCOVERING THE RURAL ARCHITECTURE OF GIOVINAZZO

The FAI Italian Environment Fund, in line with its mission, has activated various awareness and knowledge campaigns on the main environmental issues: climate crisis, biodiversity, soil, water, agriculture and landscape. The aim of these campaigns is to involve our public in a process of awareness that leads everyone to know and understand, to then feel called to act, each in their own role, to contribute to the construction of a better future, for us and for the generations that they will come.

Sunday 26 May the FAI volunteers of Giovinazzo| FAI group from the north of Bari are organizing a I walk among rural places and architecture of the countryside: from the church of Santa Lucia among the agricultural landscapes and the elements of minor architecture.

A circular route, on flat, of average difficulty, lasting around 4 hours. With the agronomist Andrea Depalma you will travel 10 km, making an intermediate stop between ancient churches, mirrors and pagghiare.

Contribution of 7 euros for non-members and 5 euros for FAI members (includes fruit and water).

Meeting point: 8.30 am Church of Santa Lucia (or 8.00 am in front of the train station in Piazza Risorgimento to be guided to the small church at the starting point, where it will be possible to park the cars).

Booking is mandatory by sending an email to: [email protected] and indicating the name and number of participants with telephone contact.

Reservations also on the website https://fondoambiente.it/eventi/camminate-nella-biodiversita-alla-scoperta-delle-architetture-rurali-di-giovinazzo

Walking itineraries are proposed to keep attention high on the urgent issues that the environmental crisis poses to us, contributing to deepening knowledge through observation of our territory. To deepen it, therefore, through the stories and guidance of experts, to spread a “culture of nature and the environment” and bring the major global issues – climate change, loss of biodiversity, land consumption, water crisis – to the local scale and of daily life.

The route tends to highlight the landscape characteristics, with small production units and a mosaic of paths, dry stone walls, rural outbuildings and paggiare.
