Aversa, Baldascino: “Counteracting educational poverty”

2

Aversa (Caserta) – A challenge, that of the centre-left mayoral candidate, who cannot see the schools alone, but must involve everyone: Municipality, families, third sector bodies and other local entities.

“In my electoral committee they remind me that ‘their ideas walk on our legs’”. Thirty-two years after the cowardly terrorist-mafia attack in Capaci in which Giovanni Falcone Teresa Morvillo and the agents Vito Schifani, Rocco Dicillo and Antonio Montinaro lost their lives, Mauro Baldascino thus remembers the sacrifice of the Palermo magistrate, his wife and their escort. “Together with Don Peppe Diana – continues the centre-left mayoral candidate – they are the figures who have guided and shaped my public and private commitment, in the name of legality, solidarity, social justice and for the defense of common goods”.

Yesterday morning Baldascino went to Piazza Don Peppe Diana where the magnolia commemorating Giovanni Falcone is located, which, with a demonstration scheduled for late yesterday afternoon, was officially proclaimed a monumental tree. Baldascino also focuses on the younger generations, for whom the example of the magnolia as a good for all must act as a symbol. “The new administration – says the candidate for mayor – must combat educational poverty, which denies the right of minors to learn, develop skills and competences, cultivate their aspirations and talents. A challenge that cannot be faced by schools alone, but must involve everyone: the Municipality, families, third sector bodies and other local entities, developing a wide-ranging project that follows an educational model oriented towards cooperation”.

Following up on the “Aversa educational city” territorial educational pact, between the Municipality, the C06 social sector and the schools of all levels present in the Aversa area, the centre-left mayoral candidate intends to bet on education as a tool for social transformation, through the mobilization and involvement of the greatest possible number of educational agents active in the area. In particular, the objective is to stimulate and support the practices of active citizenship and the innovative proposals of young people, who want to do something useful, new and eco-sustainable for the city, transforming their ideas into projects (“The Neighborhood School”).

The aim is to establish the municipal Youth Forum, Municipal Council of Children and the election of the Baby Mayor, in order to promote the active participation of children in the political life of Aversa, making decisions that directly concern them.
