in Cerignola a meeting with Olena Nazarenko

On the occasion of Il Maggio dei Libri, the community library of the municipality of Cerignola in collaboration with the Mondadori bookshop of Cerignola organized the meeting “Poems to the sound of sirens” with Olena Nazarenko, president of the Terre di Confine association, Centro di Ukrainian culture.

Where is Ukrainian poetry going today? What substantial elements do poets express and trace through the reading of immediate, postmodern, complex and articulated reality?

How do you write poetry in times of war and bombings, of death and destruction?

Olena Nazarenko, president of the Italian-Ukrainian cultural association “Borderlands – center of Ukrainian culture in Italy”, founded in 2016, moderated by the librarian Pasquale Braschi, will try to answer these questions starting from the anthology “Poets of Ukraine” , because poets are the first to collect the discomfort of the civilization they inhabit and reading this discomfort through their poetic compositions involves a reflection on violence, on the death of innocent people, on inhuman devastation.

The event will take place on Monday 27 May at 6.00 pm in the conference room of the municipality of Cerignola.

Participation is free. For information you can contact the Cerignola community library at the following number 0885.410325
