The appointments to put on the diary during the weekend of the Palio di Legnano, from Friday 24th to Sunday 26th May

1- Who is on stage?

A great event will take place in the Calloni courtyard, in the historic center of Dairago. Saturday 25th May with repeat on Sunday 26thhe arrives Verdi’s “Traviata”.an opera in three acts, edition for band, edited by “Giuseppe Verdi” musical band directed by the master Mario Arrigoni.

Ready to debut Festival Donne In•Canto, which returns for the sixteenth edition in the municipalities of Legnano and Rhodes. The start Saturday 25 May, at 5pm, from Villa Corvini in Parabiago, copening ceremony with Godmother Sarah Maestri. 2- Legnano tells its story

Legnano is redesigned in the works of Helidon Xhixha. Until November 24th, in five symbolic points of the city there will be “distorted sculptures”, run and observe them, you will discover a new Legnano. At Palazzo Leone da Perego the magic continues with its own “sublime reflected distortions”, until June 30th.

Legnano is also told in the 70 photographs by Armando Belloni, the crafts of the past are on display at Palazzo Leone da Perego. Appointment until May 27th.

At Palazzo Malinverni, in the Hall of Coat of Arms, the large canvas by Francesco Hayez, of 1859 accompanied by documents from the Historical Archives of the Palio Foundation. Ancient, modern and contemporary in the name of Hayez. A painter who is part of the DNA of the Palio di Legnano. The work can be visited until June 10th.

3 – Cycle

Riding for Peace. Sunday 26 May, the 40th edition from the Bicipacean important awareness-raising event which, in the name of peace and environmental protection, it will start from a dozen places and cross over 50 municipalities. Ready to ride with them?

Cycling also in Groane Park. A route that will wind through the paths of Groane Park and of Moor Briantea and will cross the area affected by the Villoresi channel and fountains.

4 – All the events of the Palio

The long Palio weekend starts with official tests at Campo Giovanni Mari in Legnano on the morning of Friday 24 May. In the evening, again at the Mari stadium, the match will take place the Provaccia, 39th Memorial Favari, with the bareback race reserved for young emerging jockeys organized by the Collegio Dei Capitani with the same regulations as the Palio.

On Saturday 25 May, Palio fever rises in all eight Contrade: it’s the dinner on the eve of the big day. (Contrada La Flora, Contrada San Bernardino, Contrada San Martino, Contrada Sant’Ambrogio, Contrada San Domenico, Contrada San Magno, Contrada Legnarello And Contrada Sant’Erasmo).

The day of the Palio and before Medieval Festival in Legnano, (read the program here), it opens with the celebration of the Mass on the Carroccio, the Religious Investiture of the Captains of the Palio, the blessing of the jockeys and the traditional flight of the doves. In the afternoon, from 2.30 pm, the historical parade will start from Piazza Carroccio to arrive at the field around 3.30 pm, where the Honors to the Carroccio will take place, the two preliminary heats and the final to assign the Cross of Ariberto d’Intiminiano.

5- Out of town

From Friday 24th to Sunday 26th May, in Cantello, the Asparagus Fair.

Saturday 25th, Castiglione Olona is the “Borgo dei Toys”. From 3pm in the historic center games, workshops and fun for everyone.

Rose Festival, Sunday 26th in Fagnano Olona. Appointment from 10am at Villa Bianchi and in Corte Riva
