Murder in Aosta, Sohaib family lawyers in Fermo: “Extradite the young man”

From lawyers Lucia Lupi and Igor Giostra, of the Fermo Bar, lawyers for the family of 21-year-old Sohaib Tema – detained in France in connection with the death of the 22-year-old Frenchwoman Auriane Nathalie Laisne, which took place in Aosta last March we receive and publish :

Fermo.- “Which lawyers of Mr. Sohaib Teima, currently detained in France, we wish to make known our position regarding the accusations made against our client in relation to the tragic death of the young Auriena

First, it is crucial to point out that Sohaib has always proclaimed himself completely innocent in relation to all the crimes alleged against him in France and Italy.

We would also like to highlight that Sohaib’s family, during Aurienne’s stay in Italy, always showed the utmost respect and consideration towards him. These circumstances definitely contrast with the image that is emerging in the media and is confirmed by what Auriena herself repeatedly reiterated and wrote when she was alive. Therefore, what is written on this point in the letter by the late Aurienne’s father does not correspond to the truth.

With regards to the French trial for mistreatment, we believe that all the available evidence has not been adequately evaluated, an aspect that we also intend to bring to the attention of the authorities responsible for the murder. Our trust in the justice system leads us to believe that once all the testimonies and evidence that can be acquired are examined, the truth will clearly emerge.

A key point of our defense concerns the analysis of messages contained in Sohaib’s mobile phone, currently under seizure in France. We are confident that the transcription of these messages will provide decisive evidence to support his innocence.

The young man’s current condition is of deep concern to us and his family. To date we cannot communicate with our client and we appeal to the French authorities to guarantee dignified detention conditions that respect his rights. According to the mother, she was denied an interview due to a 10 minute delay, and this does not appear humanly acceptable.

We therefore hope that young Sohaib will be extradited as soon as possible and that an impartial investigation takes into consideration every aspect and available evidence following every lead. Our faith in justice and Sohaib Teima’s right to a fair trial is firm. We are ready to collaborate with the authorities to ensure that the truth comes to light and that justice is done in the interests of both the young victim, those who are now in prison, unjustly accused of the murder, and all their families.”
