Ribbon cutting for the fourth edition of “Ormeggi

At the Chiostro Caffè Letterario the inauguration of the event and the presentation, by the Open Space Association which organizes the event, of the events scheduled until Sunday 26 May

Cutting the ribbon, which opened the Cloister to the city, sanctioning not only the start of the event but also the opening to the public of the Book Fair and the Artists’ Fair, were the mayor Paolo Mascaro and the new councilor for Culture Annalisa Spinelli .

Both underlined the quality of the literary proposals that will characterize the Festival and the prestige achieved by it.

“A review – underlined Mascaro – which can act as a spur for children and bring them closer to the world of reading”.

Councilor Spinelli will also be a first-person protagonist. In fact, he will moderate the presentation of the book “So far so good. A difficult but extraordinary journey” by Sabrina Paravicini scheduled for Saturday 25 May.

Also present at the inauguration was regional councilor Amalia Bruni who, applauding the initiative, underlined how reading and culture can represent a beacon (not surprisingly chosen as the Festival’s logo) for many young people.

Professor Francesco Polopoli, teacher of Latin and Greek at the Liceo Classico “Francesco Fiorentino” and his students Francesco Maione and Lorenzo Colistra, who made national headlines for the translation, then spoke on stage, preceded by the viewing of the video clip they created. in ancient Greek of the song “Sogna boy, dream” by Roberto Vecchioni.

The 100th anniversary of Franco Basaglia’s birth was remembered through a reading, introduced by Rita Gura and read by Valentina Tedesco and Aldo Marchetti. The psychiatrist and neurologist played a crucial role in promoting the eponymous law that, in 1978, led to the closure of mental asylums.

In conclusion, Ornella Molinaro, on the topic of the story on the closure of mental hospitals, presented the “Itaca Project” with regional headquarters in Lamezia, a voluntary association for raising awareness and correct information on mental health.

Paolo Gura, host of the event, therefore made an appointment for Friday 24 May.
