Reggio Calabria, 24 May at the Reggiosud club: ‘No bridge, yes park’

At a time when in Parliament the wicked idea of creating a bridge over the Strait of Messinawe strongly reiterate that this is not only madness from a technical point of view, but also from an economic point of view.

It surprises us that, despite the importance of these areas and the presence of existing constraints and recognitions, an agreement has not yet been established National Park for their protection. The bill we illustrate is a fundamental step to guarantee the protection of these extraordinary territories.

There Proposal of law for the establishment of the Strait and Purple Coast National Park was born from the need to provide the populations of this area with an alternative to what now seems like a destiny-proposal looming over the Strait of Messina and throughout the area for many decades and which, in recent times, has regained strength.

The proposal is based on Law framework of protected areas to which the area we have identified fully responds. This is an area that includes two regions, – Calabria and Sicily, – very rich in biodiversity and in which there are archaeological assets of great value, as well as historical structures, such as fortifications.

In short, we took note of the past, of the will of the population and of the regulations in force and the Proposal of Law for the establishment of the “National Park of the Straits and the Purple Coast” emerged.

The invitation is for Friday May 24th at 6.00 pm at the Reggiosud club in Via Barre Inferiore 84 Rc.
