Two Brescians awarded the honor of Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy

There are also two from Brescia among the Italians awarded the honor of Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy. This is the athletics coach Claudio Berardelli and the entrepreneur Anna Leali.

The delivery ceremony took place in the residence of the Italian ambassador to Kenya, Roberto Natali, in the presence of the Italian undersecretary for the Environment and Energy Security Claudio Barbaro, who is in Africa to participate in the ninth global conference promoted by the International Energy Agency power.

«Berardelli – Barbaro recalled – arrived in Kenya as a young student of physical education. It is today a worldwide point of reference for the training of successful cross-country skiers, being able to include in its team numerous African runners who have distinguished themselves in Olympic and world competitions and in the most prestigious marathons in the world.” Berardelli trained, among others, Kenyan athletes Businiei Janeth Jepkosgei and Yego Alfred Kirwa of the Rosa Team, winners in the 800 meters at the 2007 Osaka World Championships, and Martin Lel, winner of the 1988 Seoul Olympic Marathon.

Anna Leali, originally from Calvagese, moved to Kenya at the age of twenty, working in ice cream and pastry shops. Over the years, thanks to her tireless work, has expanded its brand, becoming a point of reference for Italian food and wine style. The other honors went to the Mother Superior of the Cottolengo congregation in Nairobi, Sister Loredana Serena, and to the Perugian entrepreneur Monia Posti.
