Milan, Brescia And Bergamo they are the provincial capital municipalities of Lombardy which, in 2023, collected the greatest proceeds from fines paid by private individuals for violations of the Highway Code, taking home almost 167 of the 193.7 million collected by all the Lombardy municipalities.

This was revealed by the comparison portal Facile.it, which analyzed the data from Siope, the information system for the operations of public bodies.

Taking the lion’s share is Milan, also first on a national level, which grossed more than 147 million euros, compared to 12.4 in Brescia and 7.5 in Bergamo. Followed by Pavia (6.3 million), Como (5.4 million), Mantua (3.5 million), Monza (3.4 million), Varese (2.8 million), Cremona (2.2 million) and Lecco (1.7 million). Sondrio and Lodi close the ranking, having grossed 652 thousand and 490 thousand euros respectively.

Milan also wins for the ‘per capita’ value of the sanctions with 108 euros each, compared to 90 euros in Pavia, 73 in Mantua, 65 in Como, 63 in Brescia and Bergamo, 36 in Lecco and Varese, of the 32 in Cremona and the 31 in Sondrio. Latest Monza (28 euros) and, once again, Lodi, with a per capita fine of just 11 euros.
