ORNAMENTAL BIODIVERSITY in Pistoia – Discoverpistoia

Italy boasts the presence of 6,700 species of plants, half of the plants present in the Old Continent. Of these, 15% live practically only in Italy. Coldiretti Giovani Impresa Pistoia highlights this on the occasion of World Biodiversity Day, announcing the event ORNAMENTAL BIODIVERSITYwhich will be held sSaturday 25 May, starting from 9.00 in the context of the Campagna Amica market in Pistoia. “

The Pistoia nursery center makes a fundamental contribution to continental biodiversity, given that in just 5000 hectares of nursery around 2000 varieties of ornamental and non-ornamental plants are grown – they explain young nurserymen from Coldiretti, who for the initiative have selected around a hundred of them grown in Pistoia nurseries”.

Dozens and dozens of varieties of ornamental plants will be displayed and explained: Acer shishigashira, Acer Butterfly, Acer reticulatum, Bambu Fargesia, Brahea Armata, Fatsia Japonica, Phoenix Roebellini, Strelizia Nicolai, Yucca rostrata etc…., but you will also be able to appreciate the different native Tuscan olive trees, destined to form new olive groves.

The eventexplains Serena Attucci, Coldiretti Giovani Impresa delegate from Pistoia-, in addition to the display of plants, it includes a section entirely dedicated to children, from ‘sowing’ workshops with small farmers preparing their vegetable gardens and a guided tour of the market, bread and oil tasting, and then, to symbolize animal biodiversity, there they will be Paco and Moon, the two Alpacas who will ‘watch’ (and be admired) the spectacle of nature, proposed again in the treasure chest of the Campagna Amica market.
