Civitavecchia – Candidate for mayor D’Antò

Mayoral candidate D’Antò: “The closure of the power plant will have a strong impact on workers and families. Concerns at the center of our political commitment”

However, we are aware that this change will have a significant impact on ENEL workers and their families.

As a candidate for mayor, I want to reiterate that their concerns are at the heart of our political commitment.

We know well that the most serious problems will arise for related companies and especially for single-client companies such as Minosse, which risk bankruptcy or years of redundancy for their employees.

However, we believe it is essential not to take the future of Enel employees for granted.

Our commitment is clear: to support the unions so that, together with ENEL, concrete solutions are found that allow workers to remain in Civitavecchia. Considering early retirements, we estimate that approximately 150 workers will require reemployment.

It is very serious that the table at the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy has not yet found any concrete solution, highlighting how the Meloni government has no intention of investing in our territory.

The epochal change that will see the closure of the coal power plant in Civitavecchia must be accompanied by public investments, so that private individuals are also encouraged to invest in our city.

It is clear that the right-wing institutional chain Government-Region-Municipality is not working.

Evidently the servility of the local right-wing representatives in the region and parliament towards their party leaders, instead of bringing solutions, is working like a plug. To defend their seats, they ask for certainties for themselves, but not even a euro for the future of the city.

With us at Palazzo del Pincio the city will finally have a voice that will speak loud and clear on behalf of the citizens. After 70 years of energy servitude, Civitavecchia deserves attention and funding and we will tell the Government loud and clear!

But we will not just passively wait for solutions from above: we will propose a working table with ENEL, unions and local administration to explore all available options, from professional retraining to employment opportunities in new energy and industrial projects in the area.

The land occupied by the TVN power plant is a fundamental industrial site in our city and Enel will have to find solutions that guarantee development and employment.

When we win the elections, ENEL workers will no longer be alone.

Our coalition is firmly committed to ensuring that their concerns are heard and addressed with the utmost seriousness. The closure of the power plant must not only be seen as a challenge, but also as an opportunity for a more just and sustainable future for all.

I invite you to join us in this commitment and support the initiatives we will implement for the good of our community. Together, we can make a difference >>.
