The City of Cerignola, in collaboration with the Episcopal Curia, Confindustria Foggia and Neverland Events and Animation, celebrates the “Legality Day” on 23 May 2024. This national anniversary, established to commemorate the victims of all mafias and in particular the Capaci massacre of 23 May 1992, represents a moment of reflection and collective commitment in the fight against organized crime and in the promotion of the values of justice and legality. The program of the day includes:
10.00 am: Piazza della Repubblica – Liturgy of the word, a moment of reflection and prayer in memory of the innocent victims of the mafia, celebrated by the Vicar General of the Diocese of Cerignola-Ascoli Satriano, Monsignor Vincenzo D’Ercole.
10.30 am: Procession of students, accompanied by the Carabinieri fanfare, demonstrating the commitment of the young generations in building a future free from crime. (The procession will start from the Cathedral and will cross the main streets of the city)
12.00 pm: Arrival in via Falcone-Borsellino, where a picket of honor will be held and the laying of a laurel wreath in memory of the victims. Institutional greetings from the Mayor will follow.
“Legality Day” is an important opportunity to remember the sacrifice of those who fought for justice and to renew the commitment of all citizens in building a more just and safe society. The municipal administration invites all citizens to actively participate in this initiative, demonstrating their support for the values of legality and justice.
