Guided tour today at 5pm of the exhibition which tells the story of the relationship between the writer and our city with videos, documents and original graphics. For the occasion, the archives of the Diana school were reopened and material from the Teche Rai was used

REGGIO EMILIA – “In Reggio Emilia, at the invitation of the Municipality, I had a series of meetings with around fifty teachers from nursery, elementary and middle schools, and I presented, in a final and official form, all my tools of the trade. Three things make me remember that week as one of the best of my life.” That’s how he wrote Gianni Rodari in the introduction to his “Grammatica della fantasia”, a book published in 1973 – dedicated to the city of Reggio Emilia – recounting the days of fantasy, after which the project of creating a “manual for inventing stories” took shape.

This is where the exhibition inaugurated at the Malaguzzi center begins: “A fantastic combination. Gianni Rodari and Reggio Emilia”. And from the meeting between Rodari and Loris Malaguzzi. The exhibition is aimed at adults and children and, thanks to various sessions, explores some Rodarian themes: the child as protagonist, the “fantastic combination”, theatre, puppets and marionettes, the relationship between imagination and logical thought, art to invent stories. Some cornerstones of Rodarian’s text are made visible through projects and artefacts created by girls and boys from schools and nursery schools in Reggio Emilia from the 1970s to today.

For the occasion, a guided tour will be held today at 5pm with the curators accompanying those present. Furthermore, after a long time the archives of the Diana school were reopened, which for years housed original pieces, graphics and drawings. And thanks to Rai Teche, documentaries and video clips are visible, true rarities in which the schools of Reggio are told in relation to other Italian schools. The exhibition can be visited free of charge from Monday to Friday (from 10am to 4.30pm).
