Vuelle Valli ready to present himself to the city

This could be the right week for the new Vuelle president Andrea Valli, elected last Thursday by the Consortium assembly, to present himself to the city at a press conference. In these days, in fact, the old and new Board of Directors will meet in a single meeting for the handover, which is fundamental for the next steps: registration of the team for the next A2 championship, definition of the budget and, consequently, of the objectives. Valli hoped for a prompt return to Serie A, but to achieve this we need to prepare a tough team, given that next year too there will be at least six teams from important clubs, and with a certain tradition, who will still aim for promotion. A list to which Brindisi must be added, recently relegated but already able to provide itself with a high-level coach like Piero Bucchi, signed on a three-year contract. Reading the comments, it is a welcome return for the Happy Casa fans, given that it was in Puglia, with the Enel brand, that Bucchi had lived important seasons upstairs. Clearly, with a president-owner like Marino it is easier to make decisions, make proposals and offers. Naturally, however, having a Consortium as governance, many more things need to be sorted out before jumping onto the market.

First of all, the issue of the main sponsor must be resolved, also linked to the modus operandi of the Beretta family, who never wanted to tie themselves to the club with a multi-year contract, but have always decided year by year whether to confirm the sponsorship. And usually the answer never came until June. Furthermore, it is very likely that the figure will be discussed again, given that the media exposure of the A2 series is not the same as that of the A series. But it would already be a success if Carpegna Prosciutto decided to stay: their adventure in basketball began with a terrible championship in which the team barely won one match and was ‘saved’ by the pandemic which interrupted the season, otherwise it would have started with relegation. The fact that after three satisfactory years, with two Italian Cup Final Eights (2021 and 2023) and two playoffs (2022 and 2023) the move downstairs has truly arrived certainly does not help to convince the Berettas to stay. From what filters through, they could do it in the name of the bond that was created with Ario Costa (currently out of the game) and Luciano Amadori (remaining in the Consortium), a last gift to avoid leaving Vuelle without a main sponsor in the most critical moment to when they landed in the club.

Meanwhile, Sassari and Treviso look downstairs: Giovanni Veronesi, wing guard of Assigeco Piacenza, is one of the prized pieces on the Italian market. Born in ’98, a 1.96m guard-wing player, he ended the season with 16.3 points on average and 39% from three: Banco di Sardegna and Nutribullet would have already had their eyes on him.
