Friday 24 May, literary café at 5.00 pm, for the Literature and science cycle, meeting with Giovanni Solimine, author of “Amphibian brains, ears and digital”, Aras editions 2023. Sandro Cuzzucoli intervenes.
«The ecosystem in which we live has become digital, changing the paradigm of our existence and, with it, the learning and information systems, the ways of reading. Written communication is losing its centrality to make way for new cognitive styles, where orality and image seem to predominate. The effects that will affect the world of books, libraries and the publishing market itself will be radical. We are already in an exercise in the future, helped by the fact that the future has already begun, but to face it wisely we would need an “amphibian brain”, capable of orienting itself with fluidity and equal mastery between digital and analog”, says Giovanni Solimine. He is professor emeritus at the Sapienza University of Rome, deals with publishing and reading, digital consumption and the dynamics of cultural participation. He is president of the Bellonci-Premio Strega Foundation and of the Institution of Libraries and Cultural Centers of the Municipality of Rome.
