Over 1000 children and carers are expected for this event, which represents a unique opportunity for meeting and cultural exchange. The protagonists will be the young athletes born in 2013 and 2014, who will compete on the playing fields of Matera and its surroundings, but also outside, taking part in excursions, guided tours and recreational activities. The “Minibasket in the Square” is not just a sports tournament, but an event that promotes fundamental values such as sharing, respect for the rules, inclusion and the breaking down of barriers of religion, culture and skin colour. These pillars make the tournament an educational and training experience, as well as a sporting one, helping to build a welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants.

The young athletes will have the opportunity to discover the wonders of the city of the Sassi, recognized as a UNESCO world heritage site, to experience unforgettable moments together with their peers from all over the world and to play in a one-of-a-kind square
