PADUA – There are 900 children between the ages of 15 and 17 who every year in Padua and its province no longer go to school. Almost all second generation foreigners. A pedagogical, educational and also social problem that can only be solved in one way: creating a network between entities. Precisely for this reason an agreement was signed yesterday in the Municipality to protect minors and also young adults who in this way are at risk of marginalization.

At the center is the Municipality as leader of the project, represented yesterday by the Social Councilor Margherita Colonnello and the School Councilor Cristina Piva, then the Padua and Rovigo territorial school office with Roberto Natale, the Ulss 6 company with Eleonora Sale, Veneto Work with Elisabetta Frigerio, the provincial adult education center with Alessandra Bozzolan, the Fisppa Department of the University with Chiara Biasin and Francesca Boscaini, Roberta Callegaro, director of Enaip. It is a network that already today allows the recovery of 400.
Superintendent Natale underlined the preventive value of the Agreement which intends to make the system more efficient, identify the causes and also act on families who sometimes guide their children in the wrong way. While the social councilor explained how “the commitment will be to hold periodic meetings as soon as the report comes from Veneto Lavoro and the various bodies are activated from an educational, health and work point of view”.

THE STRATEGY
«Even if in Veneto the average is 9.5 percent lower than the regional and national one, we know that the most delicate point is the transition from middle school to high school – said Frigerio – and it does not concern the fact that they attend but fail but precisely the lack of attendance”. Basin explained that the strategy must be to “train them in another way with a dedicated pedagogical approach”, while Bozzolan focused on “giving tools to parents too” and Callegaro on the need “to take care of their growth path towards the goal of well-being to which they are entitled”. Above all, also from a psychological point of view, as Sale of the adolescent psychopathology service reiterated: «There are also problems of this type of fragility and we also help them to resume socialization at school».

THE DETAIL
The communications and supervision flow is managed by Veneto Lavoro which takes charge, for the first case assessments, of minors aged 14 to 17 who have dropped out of school and training reported by the regional student registry. The next step involves the involvement of the co-design team which prepares individualized projects depending on the problems to be addressed.
