The Italian Sports Center of Matera inaugurates the summer events with the second edition of the “Maria SS. Super Cup. della Bruna” “Vito Chimenti” Trophy. The event, highly anticipated by five-a-side football fans, will be held on Friday 17 May 2024 at 9pm on the synthetic pitch of the Parish of San Giacomo.
The competition will see the winning team of the last edition, Tecnovetro, and Tabaccheria Sassone, which this year presents itself with the support of two sponsors: Autocarrozzeria G3 and Frutteria Padula. The challenge promises entertainment and competitive spirit, renewing the enthusiasm of the last edition.
Vito Chimenti’s family will be present at the opening ceremony, with his son Valentino and his wife Anna, the religious and civil authorities of the city of Matera and the Regional Delegate of Sport and Health, Matteo Trombetta. “The start of the activity always marks a moment of emotion and happiness,” declared Lorenzo Calia, Provincial President of CSI Matera and organizer of the event. “The organizational part is long and tiring, but it ends the moment you take to the field. From that moment on, the responsibility for the enjoyment of the public lies with those who play.”
The first match of the tournament will be dedicated to the late Vito Chimenti. “Vito has always been close to our initiatives,” added Calia. “Our vision was to raise men and women in sport with important human values, before technical ones. This is evident in the many boys that Vito raised, who today demonstrate great human and sporting growth.”
