LATINA – With ordinance number 99 of the Mayor, the municipal administration of Latina adopts urgent measures to deal with urban degradation phenomena in the Nicolosi district.
The new rules, in force for 120 days, provide for the ban on the consumption of alcoholic beverages and spirits in the streets, squares, gardens, parks, public areas or areas open to public transit and in their vicinity, with the exception of areas granted by the administration or otherwise authorized and to the exclusion of transport to access private homes included in the streets affected by the provision. The takeaway sale of alcoholic and spirit drinks in any container is also prohibited from 8pm to 6am the following day, by managers of public establishments and commercial or artisanal establishments in private or public areas, including sales points. with vending machines.
The areas affected are: via Romagnoli, stretch between via Cervone and via Villafranca; via Villafranca, stretch between via Curtatone and via Emanuele Filiberto; Mentana square; via Curtatone; via Marchiafava; via Corridoni; via Emanuele Filiberto, stretch between piazzale XVIIIdec and via Giulio Cesare; via Pasubio; via Giulio Cesare, stretch between via Romagnoli and via Cervone; piazza Mentana and via GB Grassi.
Violators will be subject to a fixed administrative fine of 500 euros.
“The need to intervene with this ordinance – states the Mayor Matilde Celentano – is given by the fact that the administration now receives reports on a daily basis from residents who report situations of disturbance of public peace at night and of degradation in the Nicolosi district, area of particular historical urban interest included in the ‘Places of the Fai heart’ and adjacent to the bus lines where hundreds of travelers pass. The task of the municipal administration is to ensure a peaceful and civil coexistence, combating excessive consumption of alcohol, in order to avoid the occurrence of episodes that jeopardize the regular and orderly conduct of civil life, the peace and liveability of urban centres. Therefore the issue was addressed in the Planning and Productive Activities commission and the Local Police carried out scheduled night services in the area, aimed at preventing urban degradation phenomena, developing a detailed mapping of the commercial activities present in the neighborhood. It was, therefore, decided to proceed with the adoption of a temporary provision aimed at regulating the hours of sale of alcoholic beverages and spirits by the activities of supplying food and beverages to the public in the area in question, aimed at overcoming situations of degradation and prejudice to decorum and urban liveability, to protect the tranquility and rest of residents, also aimed at preventing further violent and criminal conduct, as well as protecting the heritage of historical, urban and cultural interest”.
