Yesterday afternoon the Abruzzo Alpine and Speleological Rescue intervened to rescue two Roman hikers, stuck on the top of the Velino due to adverse weather conditions. The two girls contacted the Single Emergency Number 112 (NUE) to ask for help as they were unable to recover the descent path, due to the limited visibility caused by the fog.

The operations center technician of the Abruzzo Alpine and Speleological Rescue coordinated the operations carried out together with the Fire Brigade, who transported the technicians of the Abruzzo Alpine and Speleological Rescue to high altitude together with the Guardia di Finanza (SAGF) ​​Alpine Rescue. The hikers were then identified, assisted and led safely towards a less impervious area. Subsequently, the helicopter returned to pick up the hikers and rescuers to bring them back to Shapes.

Added to this intervention is the one carried out on the night between Saturday and Sunday, in the same area, to recover a group made up of two Americans and two Italians who, lingering at altitude, were unable to return to their cars independently when it got dark. . The hikers were then reached on foot by technicians from the Abruzzo Alpine and Speleological Rescue and accompanied back to the valley late at night.
