The checks, aimed at preventing road accidents and the spread of narcotic substances, made it possible to report a young man found in possession of Hashishdestined for trafficking
During the last holidays in April and early May, the Carabinieri of the Soveria Mannelli Company (CZ) intensified their surveillance and prevention services in the jurisdiction which includes 14 municipalities falling between the mountain areas of Reventino and Sila Piccola.
The checks, aimed above all at protecting the safety of the numerous tourists who in recent days have chosen the mountains to spend the holidays as well as preventing road accidents and the spread of drugs among young people, have made it possible to report a young man found in possession of Hashishdestined for trafficking.
During long weekends and spring holidays, given the absence of many families engaged in trips out of town, it is well known that the risk of suffering thefts within one’s homes is also high. The road checks carried out by the military personnel fortunately prevented events of this type from occurring. The deterrent action led to the referral of five people who, without a valid reason, were carrying keys, lock picks, knives and other burglary tools with them, because they intended to commit theft or damage. Two people were instead reported for illegitimate possession of hunting ammunition.
Particular attention was paid to people subjected to personal prevention measures, so much so that two subjects were caught in violation of the requirements imposed by the “Obligatory Street Sheet”.
No less demanding was the activity carried out in the traffic police sector. Numerous vehicles and people were checked by the military who contested 9 infringements of the Highway Code with fines for a total amount of approximately 3,800 Euros, withdrawal of a traffic document and administrative seizure of a vehicle. A man was also stopped driving his vehicle with a false license.
The activity of the Carabinieri Company of Soveria Mannelli (CZ) for the protection of citizens will also be ensured during the next weekends of May with numerous patrolling services which will affect the entire mountain area of the Reventino and Sila of Catanzaro, in addition to the small inhabited centers which often are targeted by individuals dedicated to committing crimes against property. Please remember that, in cases of necessity, the Single Emergency Number 112 is still active which guarantees rapid intervention throughout the 24 hours a day.
