MOLOCHIO, THE ROAD FINANCED TO FACILITATE ACCESS TO THE MUNICIPALITY. CANNIZZARO: “INVESTING IN CONNECTIONS MEANS GIVING A FUTURE TO THESE REALITIES”
“The Road of the Future”. Eloquent title chosen by the municipal administration of Molochio for the presentation of the financing granted by the Calabria Region to the Aspromonte municipality for the creation of a better, safer and faster connection that connects the Gioia Tauro plain to the charming reality located at the gates of the Park National team of Aspromonte.
The intervention, amounting to €3,212,667.45 from FSC Funds 2021-2027, involves the improvement of the Sp31 connection road (Marro – Molochio) connecting to the foothills, promoting interconnection between the neighboring centers of Molochio, Terranova Sappo Minulio, Varapodio, Oppido Mamertina, Delianuova, Cittanova, San Giorgio Morgeto, Taurianova, Polistena, Melicucco, Rizziconi, Gioia Tauro, Cinquefrondi. With the modernization, the route can guarantee an additional entrance door to the Aspromonte National Park, and at the same time guarantee faster and more convenient access for those using the Gioia Tauro motorway junction and the train station of the same center.
A packed room was the setting for the presentation conference to the Molochian community, which took place in the conference area of the Sanctuary of Mary Most Holy Immaculate of Lourdes, in which the majority group of the Council of the Municipality of Molochio, mayors and administrators of the neighboring municipalities participated , the Metropolitan Councilors Giuseppe Zampogna and Michele Conia (also President of the “City of Olives” Mayors’ Assembly), the local associations and, above all, many citizens. The Honorable Francesco Cannizzaro, the person who promoted it, made the conclusions.
“Fervour, this was the palpable feeling during the event – said the Mayor of Molochio, Marco Caruso – because this funding gives new dignity to our communities and will allow us to face the challenges of the future with greater enthusiasm and hope. Small municipalities, like the one I am honored to represent, need injections of trust and strategic works like this one that the Calabria Region, thanks to the intercession of the Honorable Cannizzaro, has decided to allocate to us.”
The opening speech of Mayor Caruso was followed by those of councilor Claudio Caruso, the President of the Vita Malivindi Council and the Deputy Mayor Domenico Garreffa, who reiterated the epochal turning point that this new communication artery will represent, thanking the President of the Region Roberto Occhiuto for having granted the financing and the Deputy Francesco Cannizzaro for representing the requests of the Molochian community.
“The objective is to enhance access and internal mobility of the district and its connection with the other road arteries, with the Park area and with the various naturalistic-cultural attractions of the district, at the same time offering a more easy for citizens and local businesses. I have always given voice to the needs of the territory, especially of small municipalities, espousing often complicated causes… but it is only in this way that we can change the face of this land. With President Occhiuto we have been implementing the strategy of so-called comb interventions for some time, making the most of the conformation of the territory of Calabria and of the province of Reggio in particular, bringing the coast closer to the mountains, the urban areas to the villages. Interventions like this, like the one in Cardeto, along the lines of Gallico-Gambarie, help us not only to improve internal mobility but also to avoid the depopulation of the hinterland and give new life to the communities. Molochio deserved this attention, because it is a reality that can grow, led by a young, brilliant, prepared and far-sighted Administration. Investing in connections means giving a future to these realities.”
