Olbia closes their eight-year Serie C cycle with yet another defeat in a championship that finished in last place and a season that began with two victories in a row that made one think of a completely different epilogue. At Nespoli Spal wins 1-4 and decrees the 24th defeat for the whites and the negative evening becomes sadder with the announcement of Daniele Dessena’s farewell to football who hangs up his shoes at 36 years old and hopes to embark on a new career, that of a coach.
As for the last match of the season, after the first twenty minutes at a small trot it was Spal who broke the deadlock with Siligardi in the 21st minute, the striker exchanged with Ghiringhelli and in the penalty area with the left footed Van den Want scored on the first pole. The Ferrara team could double their lead in the 27th minute when Dalmonte chipped the crossbar after Van den Want’s touch. 2′ pass and Dalmonte makes no mistake when he hits the home goalkeeper with his left foot and scores the 2-0. At the beginning of the second half, after 9′, Dalmonte scored the brace with a low shot after receiving the ball from Siligardi. Olbia threatened in the 24th minute with Montebugnoli’s cross-shot, Meneghetti forced to send the ball over the crossbar with a flick of the back. In the 37th minute the Biancoceleste goalkeeper blocks Nanni’s diagonal strike with his fists. One minute Ragatzu’s goal arrives, starting from the left, moving towards the center and then beating Meneghetti with a jab just above the grass. Before the final whistle, Spal took the lead in the 45th minute with Zilli beating Van der Want with a low shot following an assist from Antenucci.
