The Perugia General Prosecutor’s Office has intensified the fight against organized crime by issuing seven arrest warrants for individuals convicted in various urban centers, including Pesaro, Mondolfo, Potenza Picena, Montelupone, Volterra, Viterbo and Parma.

Overall, the sentences combined exceed half a century of detention, a tangible sign of the seriousness of the accusations and the dangerousness of the individuals involved.

These subjects, all Italian, were active members of a criminal organization notoriously involved in a series of illicit activities ranging from drug trafficking to usury and extortion. Investigations have revealed that this criminal network has been spreading terror in local communities for more than a decade, mainly targeting nightclub managers and entrepreneurs, who are forced to pay exorbitant sums under the constant threat of violence and damage.

A particularly alarming aspect of their operations was the ease with which they obtained weapons and explosives, often exchanged for narcotic substances, as demonstrated by an episode dating back to fourteen years ago in which twelve kilograms of explosives were exchanged for one kilogram of cocaine.

The sentences imposed on members of the organization range from a minimum of four years to a maximum of ten years in prison.
