Sassari The great exploit was that of Sassari. For New Year’s Eve the city was waiting and had its big event. Twenty thousand people crowded Piazzale Segni for the concert Max Pezzali and at least another ten thousand in the surrounding area. A night which, after the dark years of group dancing and after the living room setting of Piazza d’Italia, which last year hosted Gianna Nanniniopens a new parenthesis for Sassari.
Ambition to become a city of music, with a location like the square between PalaSerradimigni and the Vanni Sanna stadium, it’s all there. But there is also something to review. Part of the crowd couldn’t hear the songs, another reported major shuttle delays. And then the duo’s conduct ended up at the center of the general discussion in the city Daniele Coni e Laura Calvia of the company BobòScianèl. Irreverent, often vulgar management, and with that unfortunate joke from Coni just after the stroke of midnight: «I believe that Max Pezzali, as I announced before, has finished making his fist». The frost in the square, in addition to the temperature.
The concert: «Max, you are a legend»
The New Year’s Eve star, decked out in a jacket, gloves and the inevitable hat, arrives just before 10.30pm and gives the public what they were clamoring for: a musical journey through time with the hits of 883 which have served as the soundtrack for generations of listeners. Pezzali takes the stage to the tune of “Sei un mito”and it already happened immediately. The ex 883 sings together with the audience, towards whom he often turns the microphone and who knows the entire songs by heart. “How come”, “North South West East”, “No regrets” were the peaks of the evening. A double karaoke effect is created, involving all 20 thousand spectators who celebrated New Year’s Eve in the square. That is, the one dictated by the enthusiasm, in front of the Ninetees’ own myth, but also the forced one of the public who watched from the side areas: perhaps due to some technical problem, a few meters from the stage neither music nor singer could be heard. Between some groans, everyone covered the inconvenience by singing about it, at the top of their lungs.
The controversy and the reply: «No comment»
The biggest flaw, it must be said, was the management. Cheeky and playful, in full BoboòScianèl style, but decidedly not connected to the same frequencies as the square. The presenters with easy and banal swearing (“Thank you, graziella and thanks to the c…””, “now let’s go have an orgy”) get, in negative, the next day’s cover. In particular for the moment of the countdown to 2026. In the middle of a square that was a little disappointed by Pezzali’s retreat long before greeting the new year (“The night is young but I’m not”, Max took leave at around 11.40 pm), the note of merit goes to mayor Giuseppe Mascia which does not transform the most awaited minutes of the night into a small rally for the city, but allows itself a few emotional words of good wishes. At his side the municipal councilor for culture, Nicoletta Puggionipops the champagne. And Daniele Coni, perhaps to light up the atmosphere in Piazzale Segni, exaggerates: where is Max? «I think he’s finished making his fist. He’s eating papassini.” The public doesn’t digest it, social media doesn’t forgive. Off to the shitstorm in these hours. Contacted about itthe actor barricades himself behind a no comment. “For me it’s a special moment and I think the wisest thing is to stay out of the way and not comment,” he says, overwhelmed by the criticism of these hours.
Mascia: «Sassari, a living city, let’s take note of everything»
For Sassari it was the largest event ever organized in its recent history. Griffato Gian Production, Le Ragazze Terribili and Vivo Concerti, on an artistic level it was completed with moments in the console with DJ Sergione and DJ Gabry. From a logistical point of view, New Year’s Eve leaves some notes to take: the openings behind the stage are unfortunate, which should have facilitated the flows and instead created large crowds. And a lot of bad mood. A few too many delays from the shuttles that connected the concert with other areas of the city. Audio systems, as mentioned, need improvement. Mayor Giuseppe Mascia shrugs: «We take note of the aspects that can be improved in view of future events – but then he rejoices –. Sassari shows itself to be a living cityvital and lively, who can’t wait to make the most of his potential” and able “to withstand the impact of highly attractive initiatives well”.
