New Year’s Eve 2026 in the square in Viterbo. The capital bids farewell to 2025 and welcomes the new year with a free event that combines music, entertainment and celebration in the setting of Piazza della Rocca, in the historic center of the city.

Concert in the square in Viterbo: the program

It is the Gemelli Diversi who accompany Viterbo in the transition to the new year. The famous pop group, which has left its mark on more than one generation, takes to the stage for a live performance designed to involve an audience of all ages, between nostalgia and hits such as Mary, A Moment Again, Fuego, To Make You Smile and up to the most recent single 1993.

Alongside Gemelli Diversi, the evening sees alternating music from the DJ sets of the Hit nightclub in Viterbo and the Praja on tour in Gallipoli. While the Cazacu’s dancing fountains make the atmosphere even more evocative: a show capable of blending water, lights and music in an exciting experience.

The times

The party kicks off at 9pm. At 10pm there will be space for the Hit DJ set, while at 10.30pm it’s time for Gemelli Diversi, who will accompany the public until the midnight countdown. After the toast at the beginning of the year, we will continue dancing with the DJ sets Hit and Praja.

Traffic: changes to traffic and closed roads

To allow the event to take place, a series of measures have been put in place, including parking bans, closures and diversions.

From 12pm on 31 December until no longer necessary on 1 January, a parking ban will be established with removal for all vehicles in the entire piazza della Rocca, with the exception of the car parks between via III Reggimento Granatieri di Sardegna and via Amendola and between the part in front of number 21/B (entrance to the Albornoz fortress) and piazza Sallupara. Parking ban also in via della Cava, in via Matteotti (in the stretch between piazza della Vittoria and piazza della Rocca) and in piazza San Francesco.

Closures to vehicular traffic from 8pm on December 31st until no longer necessary the following day.

In Piazza della Rocca, traffic entering from Porta Fiorentina is prohibited, as well as at Via III Reggimento Granatieri di Sardegna and from Via Matteotti. Furthermore, in Piazza della Rocca, two-way traffic has been established in the stretch between Via III Reggimento Granatieri di Sardegna and Via Amendola, therefore reversal of the direction of travel in the stretch between Via Amendola and Via San Faustino which becomes passable exclusively in the direction from Via Amendola to Via San Faustino.

In Via della Cava, two-way traffic is allowed only for residents’ vehicles to access their garages or private appliances and for vehicles serving people with disabilities for the time necessary to reach the home, with a ban on transit on Piazza della Rocca.

In via Matteotti, in the stretch between Piazza della Vittoria and Piazza della Rocca, two-way traffic has been established exclusively for local traffic, with the diversion of vehicular flows coming from Piazza della Vittoria and Via Matteotti onto Via San Luca.

Authorized vehicles entering the military area of ​​Piazza San Francesco can pass through the special lane delimited by barriers established between Via Matteotti and Piazza San Francesco.

Free shuttle

To avoid thinking about bans and closures but also about parking to find, free shuttles are available to the historic center: active from 8.30pm to 2am with departures every half hour and intermediate stops along the route, which coincide with those of the Tpl Francigena.

The Nord shuttle transits and stops in via dei Buccheri, via Francesco Baracca (Santa Lucia intersection), piazzale Gramsci and return.

The route of the South shuttle is: Sacra Famiglia church, via Vico Quinzano, via Vico Squarano, via Fernando Agostini Solieri, via Boccacci, via Vico Squarano, via Buon Pastore, viale Diaz, viale Capocci and piazzale Gramsci.
Piazzale Gramsci, viale Capocci, viale Diaz, via Vetralla, via di Porta Fiorita, via Vico Squarano, via Vico Quinzano and the Holy Family church.
Stops made: Holy Family church (Tpl stop), Viale Diaz (Tpl stop at Largo Africa height) and Piazzale Gramsci (second stop).

Prohibitions: stop bottles and barrels in the square

For New Year’s Eve, takeaway sales, administration and consumption of drinks in glass or metal containers are prohibited from 9pm on 31 December to 7am on January 1st. The ban concerns spaces outside premises, squares and streets. The expected penalties range from 25 to 500 euros.

The New Year’s line without bangs has also been confirmed. The lighting or explosion of pyrotechnics is prohibited on the night between December 31st and January 1st, with the ban being extended until midnight on January 6th, to protect public safety and security and that of animals. Also in this case, violators are subject to fines ranging from 25 to 500 euros and the seizure of the material.
