Another great success for the PanettOllaan event that has now become a permanent fixture for five years. From the 2020Everything is fine December 31stnumerous bikers meet at the entrance to the Sinnai pine forestface the climb towards the hut and follow the dirt road that leads to Monte Arrubio. This year’s edition ended in Solemnwhere all cyclists were welcomed with panettone and drinks.
The event was created by Alberto Olla (the name of the event takes inspiration from his surname) registered with theAquascana company that since 2023 takes care of the organization of the event together with Olla himself.
«I created it in 2020, the year of Covid – says Olla -. I brought some panettone and some drinks the day before to the Monte Arrubiu barracks. On the morning of the 31st we reached the top and shared everything. It was a simple meeting between friends from different teams, there were about twenty of us. From 2023, thanks to the president Mario ArgiolasPanettOlla has become more professional.”
This year participation exceeded quota 50 bikerswith the presence of various companies: in addition toAquascantook part in the event Karel Sport, Sinnai MTB, Sardinia Mountain Bike, Donori Bike e SC Cagliari.
The Aquascan president was very satisfied Mario Argiolas: «It was a success, with many participants who I thank from the bottom of my heart. A pleasant cycling walk starting from the entrance of Sinnai and arriving this year at Elisa Deiana Park in Soleminis. An opportunity to get together to wish each other a happy new year by cycling. At the park all the athletes were able to eat panettone and drink something. I thank my family and all those who collaborated, as well as mayor of Solemini, Claudio Suergiupresent upon arrival together with some councilors and city councilors, who granted the use of the park.”
Just the mayor Claudio Suergiu wanted to underline the value of the initiative: «Sport must be promoted and supported, especially when it manages to involve so many people and enhance the territory. Events like PanettOlla are always welcome because they combine aggregation, outdoor activities and community spirit. Events of this type represent a positive example of collaboration between sports associations and local institutions, and the Municipality of Soleminis will continue to support them.”
The participants were also enthusiastic. Michele Montis from the Karel Sport commented: «An event that is now unmissable. It’s not the stopwatch that counts, but the pleasure of pedaling together and ending the year in company.”
Per Claudio Lecca of the Sinnai MTB: «A suggestive route and a beautiful climate. It’s always a pleasure to see so many different shirts united by the same passion.”
In the end Alessandro Saddi dell’Aquascan: «PanettOlla has become a tradition. Excellent organization and genuine spirit: the best way to say goodbye to the old year and start the new one.”
An event that, year after year, continues to grow, confirming itself as one of the most anticipated and appreciated moments of local amateur cycling.
