Preparation for next season continues Remco Evenepoelalso spotted in recent days on the route of the Tour of Flanders. For the Belgian champion it will be a new 2026, after the move to Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe, in which the two-time time trial world champion will aim without hesitation to win the Large Loop.
After retiring last year and taking third place in 2024, Evenepoel is now ready to attempt the assault on the Tour de France, supported by top-level teammates. It won’t be an easy task, considering that the Schepdaal native will have to beat the four-time champion Tadej Pogacarwhich has always anticipated it this year (with the exception of the world time trial).
Meanwhile, Evenepoel appears very confident in an interview with Sporza: “If I think I can win the Tour de France? Yes. If at the Volta a Catalunya I can demonstrate that I am ready to win, like in 2023, then I think I can reach the level needed for the Tour. In this team, with all the support and scientific work, there is still room for improvement.”
“I still aim to be better than him. It’s very difficult, but it’s also the reason why I changed teams: to take those extra steps. I have to improve in high-intensity efforts. When Pogačar attacks, I can keep up with him for a while, but not enough. That’s where the margin for growth is. I’ve found the desire to make a tremendous effort in training, which is essential for overcoming one’s limits.”
On his retirement from the Giro d’Italia in 2023 he concluded: “It’s the biggest ‘what if?’ of my career. I think I would have won it. At that point all I would have missed was the Tour for the Triple Crown. Instead… I still have to win two.”
