The former Juventus goalkeeper, Stefano Tacconioperated on yesterday at the Molinette hospital in Turin for a surgical reconstruction of a femoral artery, he left the intensive care unit where he had been admitted after the operation and was transferred to the university vascular surgery department. The news was given in a note from the City of Health of Turin which underlines that “the patient spent a peaceful night. The post-operative course continues normally”. “The patient demonstrates stable clinical conditions and a rapid improvement in the perfusion and circulation of the right lower limb operated on yesterday afternoon”, specifies the note from the Turin hospital.
The operation lasted 5 hours
The 67-year-old underwent a five-hour surgery for endovascular recanalization of the aorto-iliac artery and surgical reconstruction of the femoral artery.
The operation was necessary “due to a serious picture of arterial ischemia of the right lower limb, due to diffuse aorto-iliac femoral arteriopathy (arterial obstruction from aorta to femur)”. A pathology, they point out, not connected to the previous one – a cerebral hemorrhage caused by ischemia – which had affected the footballer in 2022 while he was in Asti.
