In Bari the screening of «Buen Camino» yesterday turned into a show within a show. Checco Zalone and director Gennaro Nunziante made a surprise appearance at the Galleria cinema. In front of the audience, Zalone improvised a sketch that immediately went viral: «Here in the room there are all friends, no one has paid for the ticket, there is no takings. They should be the ones thanking me.”. Then the political jab, again in a comical way: «Once he was on stage, now he has been elected»referring to Antonio Decaro, today president of the Puglia Region. Before leaving, the final farewell: «The film is having a lot of success, we can say that you will come out of it lighter».
The blockbuster numbers
While we laugh in the theater, at the box office «Buen Camino» continues to rack up impressive figures. After the 5.6 million euros grossed at Christmas, the film reached 7.9 million on Boxing Day, 6.1 million on 27 December and also excellent results on the 28th. In four days it exceeded 27 million euros in totalwith an average of 34,847 euros in 771 cinemas and a market share of 71.4%.
Golden Christmas for Italian cinema
Zalone’s success drives the entire sector: Good Way e Avatar occupy first and second place in the Christmas rankings, followed by Nuremberg with Russell Crowe (over 3.4 million), Zootropolis 2 close to 16 million and Oh my life of Pio and Amedeo above 8 million. Good signs also for author titles such as Father Mother Sister Brother di Jim Jarmusch e Grace by Paolo Sorrentino. Overall, the long Christmas weekend generated over 37 million euros at the box office, one of the best results of recent years.
