Brigitte Bardot, died at the age of 91will rest in the marine cemetery of Saint-Tropez, where his parents are already buried: this is what sources from the municipality of Saint-Tropez reported, quoted by the France Presse agency, without however indicating the date of the funeral.
The news reported to franceinfo by the journalist and friend of BB, Wendy Bouchard, according to which the actress was buried in her garden in La Madrague, her historic property in Saint-Tropez near the sea, would therefore be denied.
”It was her wish and it will be respected”, to rest “close to those she loved, her animals”, added Bouchard, in reference to the actress’s fight for the animal cause. According to Bouchard, Bardot will be buried ”in total sobriety and simplicity”.
Bardot’s inner circle is in the area preparing for the funeral.
French left and right divided over national homage
The French right and left are divided over the hypothesis of a national celebration in homage to Brigitte Bardot. While the radical right exponent and patron of the small UDR party allied with the Rassemblement National (RN), Eric Ciotti, invites President Emmanuel Macron to organize a national commemoration for the actress, who passed away yesterday at the age of 91 in Saint-Tropez, the secretary of the Socialist Party (PS), Olivier Faure, rejects this hypothesis.
“National tributes – writes Faure in a message published on Faure thus responds to the invocation of Ciotti, who asks Macron to organize a tribute for BB, like the large-scale one celebrated in Paris in 2017 for the French rock star singer, Johnny Hallyday.
The Brigitte Bardot Foundation will continue to fight for the animal cause
Brigitte Bardot’s death does not mark the end of her fight for the animal cause. The Fondation Brigitte Bardot, which will celebrate its fortieth anniversary next year, ”will continue, more than ever, to promote the work of Brigitte Bardot”, declared the Foundation. Her legacy, continues the Fondation Brigitte Bardot, ”remains alive in actions conducted with the same passion and the same fidelity to her ideals”.
