Gigi D’Agostino shock after the illness: “I’m still scared”, because

In the living room Silvia Toffanin, today May 25, 2024, there is also a special guest. It’s about Gigi D’Agostino, iconic DJ and symbol of dance music all over the world, has been fighting a serious illness for several years. After reappearing in one of the evenings of the Sanremo Festival 2024the “Captain” enters the homes of Italians in one of his very rare interviews, to tell his fans how are you and how his battle against the tumor that struck him 3 years ago is progressing.

Gigi D’Agostino to Verissimo, how he is doing after his illness

Gigi D’Agostino is better. This is the most important clarification that emerges from his interview at Verissimo, which began immediately by talking about his health state: “This is it for me a second life. Certainly after suffering we rejoice in a different way: not better, but very different. “Then, after a film that celebrates his figure as an international icon, D’Agostino talks about his musical relationship.”I started to be passionate about music when I was little. Then in 1998, a very difficult year for me because horrible things had happened in my private life, I came out with three songs that were hugely successful and it all started from there.”

D’Agostino and the fight against cancer: “I’m still scared”

The presenter then asked him again about the illness that forced him to retire from the scene in 2021 to treat himself and fight his battle against the illness that hit him: “When those things happen, everything else disappears, the pain kidnaps you. It’s not life, they’ve been indescribable months. It was wonderful, when I recovered, to read the messages of so many people who wrote to me. So much love, I honestly didn’t expect it. Pain is trauma, but what happens around you is also important. In addition to my family, there were many people close to me who gave me unspeakable strength.”

“Are you afraid?” Toffanin asks point blank. D’Agostino collects his thoughts and does not hide what he feels: “The fear doesn’t go away, even though I’m better now. When something comes to you, you’re always afraid that it might come back. When you see the darkness and you don’t know what can happen tomorrow, even if you feel better that fear doesn’t go away. I experience the new light of healing, with a little part of me that says ‘let’s hope so‘. When the pain is excruciating, when you don’t have a minute a day of respite, it’s bad. Now I live well, but I always have fear: I hope it remains only a fear.”

“Before you perceived lighter things as danger – continues Gigi d’Agostino – After the illness you have a clear perception of important things. It seems banal but it isn’t: afterwards you experience everything differently, without giving too much importance to secondary things. Now I’m happy”. In June, after 4 years, D’Agostino will finally return to concert in Milan. “I’m excited, I didn’t even expect it. Music is a cure, it gives me strength. It’s a magical thing”, concludes the DJ.
