After the recent test on the Dolphin, we returned to the wheel of a BYD, this time of a higher category, to confirm the strengths of this type of electric car. Chinese by birth, but with a strong European imprint, in the style and performances they offer.
The protagonist of our test was the BYD Seala D-segment electric sports sedan on which the Chinese manufacturer Build Your Dreams is particularly aiming to make inroads in Italy.
This is a model that especially in its version All-wheel drive Excellence produces very interesting numbers. A double electric motor with a maximum overall power of 390 kW (530 HP) and almost 700 Nm of couple; a parcel Blade battery into lithium-iron-phosphate from 82.5 kWh integrated into the frame, which guarantees for the home approx 520 km of autonomy in the combined cycle. And then again, maximum speed of 180 km/h and acceleration 0-100 in 3.8 secondsa value that identifies this car model.
You travel, spending little
In our test, once again, we tested the long distances (more than 400 km on the motorway), with the clear intention of confirming the good impressions had on the BYD Dolphin compact ‘little sister’ also on a higher category sedan.
Objective achieved (despite the burden of traffic delays…) for the Seal 3.8, which proved to be performance car suitable for “complete” road use, so to speak, and not just good for enjoying a few whims.
The video of ours Paolo Mariano clarifies many details of the route taken, of the car’s responses in terms of driving comfort and use of on-board technologies, without neglecting some critical issues, which in our opinion need to be improved. As per practice, we focused in particular on the dynamics of recharge and gods consumption. With interesting implications.
All things considered, in fact, our trip planning led us to cover a stretch of approximately 470 km of motorwayspending no more than 20 euros in total…
Not bad.
BYD in Italy at competitive prices
BYD Seal is one of four models of electric cars brought to Italy by the Chinese manufacturer, which has chosen to ‘physically’ preside over our territory with a dozen dealerships. With all the advantages derived from on-site assistance.
To be competitive on the market, Build Your Dreams focuses heavily on pricesone of the strong points that we have already found on the Dolphin, which can be purchased by taking advantage of the maximum incentives for just over 20,000 euros.
There BYD Seal Excellence that we tested is from a higher segment and, in fact, can be taken home for no less than 50,000 euros. However, his standard version from 230 kW is incentivisable and you can buy it at a price that can go down to 30 thousand euros.
This, unless you can actually exploit it eco-incentives on electricitywhich have now evaporated in a pleasant… Or maybe not.
