Genoa. “Bice, the granny who ran away from the RSA to see the sea”. The woman found near a hotel in Bellaria after having left the Faenza nursing home where she was hospitalized was depicted in this way. A news story from 2023 which became a national case after the interest of some afternoon television programmes.

Behind this facade there is instead one a very different story that is told in a book introduced Thursday at 6.30pm in the Rossetti contemporary art studio in via Chiabrera 33 red: I have always written about love, this time I wrote about you Of Andrea Shaw. Readings and moderation by Lucia Caponetto.

Bice, unfortunately, is not the dear grandmother who seeks independence from her ungrateful daughters who abandoned her to her fate and entrusted her to a support administrator because they wanted to get rid of her.
Far from it.
In this investigative bookthe story is told in first person by Bice’s youngest daughter with great courage, given what she had to suffer all her life precisely because of her mother.

The private and personal facts and the moments in which Bice’s case became national are retraced, alternating, in a parallel that highlights the short circuit between the collective imagination transmitted by cameras and the reality of the facts documented by legal proceedings.
