With Cremonini at the Franco Scoglio stadium debuts “occupied place”

Initiative shared by the Municipality and University: “We think of Sara, Lorena and all the women victims of violence that are no longer” ”

MESSINA – The “occupied place” campaign also lands at the Franco Scoglio stadium, making its debut on the occasion of the Cesare Cremonini concert. This was announced by the municipal administration on the eve of the concert which will recall tens of thousands of people in the San Filippo plant, most of them from outside.

“Occupied place” is a shared project

“That” occupied place, a symbol of those who can no longer be there or participate in an event because it is a victim of gender -based violence, will be present at the stadium on the occasion of each event. It is a project shared between the Municipality of Messina, with the effective contribution of municipal councilors to major events and sports policies, and to equal opportunities and youth policies; The University of Messina and the awareness -raising initiative “occupied” gender violence. A simple, but powerful gesture.

Basile: “Remember a broken life”

To precede the beginning of the concert will be the projection, on a giant screen outside the stadium, of a short but intense spot, designed to raise awareness and accompany the public at the entrance of the event. The mayor Federico Basile explained: “We have chosen to speak of gender -based violence in an unusual but very powerful place: a stadium crowded with young people, families, music enthusiasts. It is there that we want to bring a clear, strong message that it is affected, that remains. That occupied place remembers a broken life, but also our duty to not be indifferent. It is an invitation to recognize the signs, not to minimize, to not be silent. A cultural problem, and we are all culture only by taking this responsibility together can we build a more just, more conscious, more human city “. With adherence to this campaign, the Municipality of Messina intends to contribute to a battle of civilizations that can no longer be postponed. Every stage, every grandstand, every show will be an opportunity to say: “No to violence. Always. Everywhere.”

Spatari: “Let’s think of Sara and Lorena”

Even the rector of the University of Messina, Giovanna Spatari, commented on the initiative: “That of the University of Messina is not only an adhesion to a campaign that we have always married since always, a convinced sharing. Cesare Cremonini has written a song entitled ‘men and women are the same’: what better occasion, therefore, to relaunch a commitment that must be daily? Physically, but they are as a symbol of a cultural battle on which the university and all of us will never take a step back “.

Andaloro: “That empty place speaks”

And so Maria Andaloro spoke, creator of the campaign occupied: “That empty place speaks. Remember who can no longer be there, because someone has decided to cancel their voice, dreams, presence. Bringing occupied place inside a stadium full of life and music is a powerful act: it is there, in the midst of the beauty of sharing, that we must remind us of who has been torn to life. This symbolic presence is a constant invitation to the responsibility, to the care. Only or invisible.
