Wimbledon, what happened to the 55 thousand balls used? In England they become Tane for country mice

For over 20 years, a curious initiative has taken hold in Great Britain: here is the second life of tennis balls affected by Sinner and champions

The life of a tennis ball, in the professional tournaments, is short: nine game (or seven, if it is the start of the game, in addition to heating), Wimbledon is no exception. The tube is defined, beats up to the exhaustion of the same, then they are changed. Is it enough? What happened to, once swollen and worn in this increasingly powerful tennis? Employees can be the most disparate, as happens in everyday life even among amateur players. But in Wimbledon, for years now, the found is definitely interesting. It is very appreciated.

The second life of the tennis balls in Wimbledon

In England, in fact, the tennis balls already used are transformed into mice lairs. The initiative was born in the early 2000s from various British organizations and has the purpose of protect country mice from predators: In fact, it is an animal that lives in meadows with high grass, with small dimensions, a thumb of a human hand. Size so small so that a tennis ball can be a very effective protection, also thanks to the fact of being waterproof.

The balls are thus fixed to the meadows, but also hung on the trees, as shown by the photos that run on social media. This year it is estimated that 55 thousand tennis balls will be used in Wimbledona huge figure that would be a waste not to exploit with a second life. The British have been thinking about it for some time, for a good cause. And therefore it may happen that a mouse, unconsciously, find shelter in a ball hit by Jannik Sinner. This also happens to Wimbledon.
