What are the stakes of the Fair Play UEFA? How is the club put?

In recent years, 5 million fines have been paid. But Roma have not undergone sports penalties. The Giallorossi have reduced the losses but it is not enough: other sacrifices to be done until 2026

The Roma it is the hunt for the last capital gains To return (or to spoil the stakes imposed by UEFA and the FFP. In today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello SportMarco Iaria does the point of the situation on key issues related to settlement agreement Between the main European football organ and the Giallorossi club:

Is it so important today’s date for Roma? On June 30, the financial statements close. It is the last day to define operations that fall in the year in question. Roma must respect certain targets, set for each season, by virtue of the transactive agreement with UEFA.

What is it about? It is the so-called secturment agreement, precisely the settlement agreement signed with UEFA on 31 August 2022, after the financial control body of the clubs (CFCB) had found the failure to comply with the requirement of the budget balance, i.e. the UEFA financial fair playcre regulation, for the period 2019-22. Considering the impact of the pandemic and the entry into force since 2022 of the new rules of financial sustainability, UEFA proposed to Rome and other European clubs (including Inter, which then respected the stakes) the stipulation of transactional agreements.

What predicted the settlement Agreement? Financial targets to be respected in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 in order to gradually bring the club to comply with the new UEFA rules within the 25/26 season. In the event of spoles, penalties can be triggered.

Equal sanctions received Roma? Pecuniary penalties yes, sports no. By virtue of the results of 2022- 23, a fine of 2 million was paid. And another 3 million were taken for 2023-24. In view of the 2024-25 season, 3.5 million had been set aside in the previous budget in anticipation of a new penalty.

What is the situation of Rome, concretely? Premise: the UEFA counts differ from official budgets because the European organ deduces various costs (infrastructures, nurseries, women, etc.). In any case, Rome has reported enormous losses in the past: -185 million in 2020-21, -219 in 2021-22, -103 in 2022-23, -81 in 2023- 24. The trend is improving. In 2024-25 and 2025-26 the deficit will be further reduced. The goal of the company is to reach full compliance with UEFA standards by 2026, in order to positively close the sectlection agreement. As? Working on the sales and still cutting the salaries, without impoverishing the competitiveness of the team. Because the sporting results represent the other lever to fix the financial statements.
