“The question of MotoGP was an internal discussion topic for BMW and for a long time. But I can assure you that We haven’t made a decision yet“, he said Markus flash.

The interview with BMW Motorrad CEO appeared on AMCNsigned by colleague Alan Cathcart. There are only eighteen months left, now, at the debut of the new 850 in MotoGP and Flasch has specified that BMW has not yet started the technical development of a prototype.

“First we will make the strategic decision and only after we will define the technical path. It follows that 2027 is absolutely not feasible for us. What I can say is that we are constantly working on our Motorsport strategy: MotoGP is an option, off-road another, and Superbike is also not so bad even if it is very European. Give us a few more months and we will give you an answer

Flasch has also dealt with a theme that worries the actors of the SBK: The new regulations of the MotoGP 2027 could bring the derivatives from the series in front of the MotoGPsin terms of performance. And this would potentially force to modify the SBK regulations. The BMW CEO has no answers, but counts on Dorna.

“It is up to Dorna to resolve the matter, but since they have control over both series, they will surely find a way to prevent the two categories from challenge each other”.
