“Immediate and inappropriate scenes in public spaces”. And the complaint is triggered

“Immoral” and “inappropriate”. Thus a Moroccan NGO defined a scene of a kiss shot by Gabriele Muccino during the filming of his latest film, entitled “That thin line”. A fact, this, which brought the association for the rights and development of Morocco to submit a formal complaint.

The kiss and the accusations

The disappointment had made itself felt on the net, in recent days, with some contrary comments, posted on social media, balanced, however by supporters of freedom of artistic expression. Many web users had not even been liked by the publication by Stefano Accorsi – one of the protagonists of the film together with Miriam Leone, Claudio Santamaria, Carolina Crescentini, Beatrice Savignani and Margherita Pantaleo – of night videos of Tangier in his Instagram stories, shot from above and in which the call to prayer can be heard.

But then the protest took a different turn.

Against the kiss scene, considered “immoral” and “inappropriate in a public space” the “center for the protection of social rights and for development strategies” has deployed. The association accuses the director Gabriele Muccino of having violated the laws on public decency, describing that scene as “a brazen violation of public morality” with the aggravating circumstance of having been taken up several times in a public square, crowded, under the gaze of families, children, passers -by “. This is what the Hespress news site reports that cites a press release from the association, in alert because some of the repeated scenes of the kiss would have been shot without the complete troupe, thus raising suspicions and soliciting an investigation into the legality of the recovery.

The crime of “public indecency”

The Association, Chiosa Hespress, refers to Article 483 of the Moroccan Criminal Code, which regulates the crime of “public indecency” and also criticizes the lack of police on the square during filming. For this reason, Motiva in the press release, it was resolved to ask for an investigation into the production of the film, the Lotus Production, and on the direction, but also on the local authorities who had to be aware and above all on the Moroccan cinema center, directed if the scene is included in the script and the director has in any case obtained the authorizations to turn it. Otherwise, the Association asked for legal action against producers for violation of the recovery conditions and punitive measures against any Moroccan production company that has collaborated with the foreign crew.
