As we know, the release of The Batman 2 has been postponed several times to is currently scheduled for October 1, 2027. But, since James Gunn has not yet read the screenplay of the film, will it really be so? While waiting for further news, it is certainly worth recovering Another film brilliantly directed by Matt Reeves.
These are Blood Story (here our review): the feature film, released in 2010, is A remake of the Swedish movie Let me inin turn based on the novel of the same name by John Ajvide Lindqvist. Set in Los Alamos in the 80s, Blood Story revolves around the character of Owen, a lonely boy, back from the divorce of his parents and constantly targeted by the schoolmates. The young man will hold friendship with Abby and the two will fall in love. Too bad the girl is actually a vampire.
It is an extremely interesting work, even in the light of his Connections with The Batman. Meanwhile, Blood Story is the result of the collaboration between Reeves and the director of photography Greig Fraser, who would later work on The Batman. To further connect the two films there is the soundtrack, composed in both cases by the famous Michael Giacchino. But the affinities do not end here: the theme of voyeurism returns in a marked way in both films, as well as a vision of intense and tormented love. For these reasons, Blood Story is a film that deserves to be rediscovered by those who appreciated The Batman. Not surprisingly, Batman’s figure has often been approached that of the vampire – a parallelism that makes Blood Story the work closest to Reeves’s future vision on the dark knight.
