As part of the Festival, Ertula, Làberos presents the book: Prince Rosa, by and with Alessandro De Roma in dialogue with Andrea Messina and with the interventions of the CLIP collective.
The Rosa Prince, published by Fandango in 2025, is a book that tells a story set in Sardinia.
Maristella has always been a wise girl, in love with her father, Dr. Spiga, in her eyes without defects, if not a mysterious melancholy, of which the world is certainly responsible, with her injustices and the mean. Between the long summers to the Poetto and the trips in the Sardinian hinterland, the example of the father, a communist doctor, and the myth of Mother Teresa of Calcutta have given birth to Maristella as a child the desire to put themselves at the service of the world, to change it, perhaps even to save him, but the life of adults is often not up to the dreams of childhood and that of Maristella Spiga is no exception. Forty -year -old skeptical and flooded, teacher of precarious science, after the death of his father, finally finds the courage to test himself on a trip to Calcutta, where nothing will be as he imagined. Only in Nice, during a journey with friends, will he find the way to deal with his dreams and with what he remains, finding himself in front of a turning point that his rational and almost disenchanted reading of reality would never have hinted. And, using the words of Michela Murgia, the writing of Alessandro de Roma “has the power of the truthful truths, the strength to put you in front of what derises you the air, water and the heart”, in the pink prince the rim of the human soul in the moment in which he discovers himself and accepts their uncertainties tells something of each of us.
Alessandro De Roma (1970) was born and lives in Sardinia, where he teaches history and philosophy. He published the novels Vita and Death of Ludovico Lauter (Il Maestrale, 2007), The end of the days (The Maestrale, 2008), The first step in the woods (Il Maestrale, 2010), when everything is silent (Bompiani, 2011), My curse (Einaudi, 2014), nobody remains alone (Einaudi, 2021) and large submerged land (Fandango, 2023). It is among the authors of the beneficial anthology you are for Sardinia (Einaudi, 2014). His books were translated into France by the Gallimard publisher.
