F1: A Silverstone Trusted Ferrari, Mercedes Call Verstappen – F1

From Austria to Silverstone. The Formula Uno circus knows no stops and on Sunday it will stop in England, on the dear circuit in Lewis Hamilton and McLaren, the undisputed master of the World Cup.

But to ‘shake’ the waters, in the last hours, are the news of the ‘market, with the reigning champion, Max Verstappen who would be one step away from saying yes to Mercedes. The news circulates since yesterday, finds no official confirmation, but everything suggests that marriage can be done. According to the well -informed, the Team Principal of the silver arrows, Toto Wolff, is working to bring to Mercedes already in 2026 the four -time world champion of Red Bull, chased ten years ago when he was still an emerging young man. He, Verstappen, has a contract with the Red Bull expiring in 2028 with a termination clause that will expire this summer, linked to the position in the ranking of the mid -championship, would be considering the thing.

And it is not to be underestimated that in 2026, the Mercedes should have the best power unit of the Circus, a not indifferent detail at the beginning of a new regulatory era. If the negotiation should go to Porto Verstappen, it would take care of George Russell’s place, currently in negotiation with Mercedes for a possible contract renewal of about 35 million euros, alongside Kimi Antonelli. The alternatives for Russell would not miss (Red Bull or Aston Martin). The situation is constantly evolving, and if until a week ago it was thought of the announcement of Russell’s renewal with Mercedes on the Silverstone weekend, the scenarios now seem upside down. Meanwhile, in Silverstone, on the weekend, confirmations from Ferrari are expected after the podium of Charles Leclerc last Sunday in Spielberg.

“After Austria we move to Silverstone, a very different circuit and one of the great classics of the calendar. The updates introduced on the SF-25 in Spielberg certainly contributed to the good result obtained last Sunday, and we want to exploit this positive momentum also for the appointment that awaits us”, the words of the Team Principal Ferrari Fred Vasseur. “We have seen how important it is to take care of every aspect of the weekend to obtain a solid performance – he explained – and, as always, we will focus on ourselves with the aim of putting together another clean weekend. This is Lewis’ race of home and will be particularly motivated to do well, also thanks to the huge support that always receives here. I can’t wait to be on the track together with the whole team: the atmosphere of Silverstone is always special”.
