War in Ukraine, Russia breaks through in the Kharkiv region: unstoppable waves

Ukraine begins to admit the advance of Moscow’s forces in the Kharkiv region, after two separate attacks yesterday across the border and not just one. In the first attack, which began at five o’clock yesterday morning, the Russians managed to penetrate at least one kilometer in the direction of Vovchansk, with the aim of creating a buffer zone of ten kilometers after the border, to protect Russian territory from war, confirmed a Ukrainian military source quoted by CNN. Ukrainian reservists have been deployed in the area.

A second well-informed source on developments at the front admitted that four Russian battalions, totaling around 2,000 men, penetrated five kilometers in the direction of Krasne, 75 kilometers west, along the border, of Vovchansk, and two other villages neighbors. DeepStateMap, the Ukrainian group that follows the situation at the front step by step, indicates four nearby villages, including Krasne, as a gray area, i.e. a contested one, not under full Ukrainian control. Two Ukrainian civilians were killed and several others wounded in the offensive, local sources said.

Russian forces claimed to have taken control of five settlements in the Kharkiv region (Borisovka, Ogurtsovo, Pletenevka, Pylnaya and Strelechya). The spokesman for the Ukrainian military in the east, Nazar Voloshyn, says that Russia’s soldiers have been “stopped” in the so-called “gray zone” and insists that there is no advance. His words are relaunched by the Kyiv Independent, which also reports those of the governor of Kharkiv, Oleh Syniehubov, according to whom the situation is “under control” and fighting is taking place in four of the five locations claimed by Moscow (excluding Pletenevka).
