The Iranian attack on Israel on April 13 proved that wrong a dogma in Israeli military doctrinethat is, that the country must be able to defend itself: «Without the Americans, who put together a coalition with the English and some Arab countries – explains Federico Rampini in his column East West – Israel would not have been able to neutralize the attack.” This gives the measure of the power in the hands of Joe Biden: «Rarely, from 1967 to today, the USA has dared to condition military aid to Israel as the US president declared in an interview with CNN – Rampini notes -, but it is unrealistic to think that the problem is called Benjamin Netanyahu». A large segment of Israeli public opinion no longer agrees with the two-state principle: «Even a moderate like Isaac Herzog, current president of Israel, rejects this hypothesis.” This is Biden’s problem: «he must relaunch dialogue with Arab countriesstarting with Saudi Arabia, but the issue always remains the Palestinian issue”, concludes Rampini.
