“The Company sent a complaint to the journalist Serena Bortone – Sergio said in the Supervisory Commission – as happened in other similar cases, for the published post on its social profiles at 8.30am on Saturday 20 April in violation of the legislation which prohibits any employed or self-employed Rai worker from issuing public statements or in any case made in public contexts such as social networks on company activities, news and events”.

However, the president of Rai Marinella Soldi distanced himself from CEO Roberto Sergio’s move, contesting his decision: “I do not believe that the disciplinary proceedings against Serena Bortone do justice to the matter, let alone do good for Rai“.
“What was reported by the CEO to the Supervisory Commission partially recounts what happened, not mentioning any significant aspects. Without prejudice to company policies, the so-called Scurati case is still subject to checks by the company Internal Audit management, for which the President has the powers”, declared Soldi.
“The draft results of this audit have been viewed by both me and the CEO and highlight one much more complex situation than that described by the CEO, which requires a more complete approach”.
New clash between Rai top management after the Saviano case
It is not the first time that there have been clashes and differences of opinion at a public level between the president of Rai Marinella Money and the company’s CEO Roberto Sergio.
Before the Scurati-Bortone case, in fact, Soldi had contested the cancellation of the program Insiders Of Roberto Savianoalready registered, decided by Sergio following the controversy over the writer’s insults to Meloni and Salvini.
The Rai president had hoped for “additional internal reflection” on the case, maintaining that the topics covered by Saviano’s program would perfectly respect the canons of the public service.
