Genoa. The 34th International City of Colombo Trophy took place on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th May in the suggestive RDS Stadium in Genoa. An event of the highest prestige, lasting two days, which brings the best national and international judoka to the city of Lanterna.
In the competition, Sharin Judo won a very important gold, with its athlete Elia Vitale in the 55 kg Beginners category. The Sharin representative won the top step of the podium, completing all the matches before the time limit, demonstrating a truly high level of form, both from a physical and tactical point of view.
In fact, the young man from Savona, even in this tournament, dominated the matches both by exhibiting a multifaceted judo (each match was finalized using different techniques) and by demonstrating a mature attitude, worthy of much older professional athletes.
Elia Vitale managed to get on the podium in every tournament this year and is “getting used to” his teachers who see their athlete ready for the finals of the Italian A1 category championships, which will take place next month.
“Even today – says coach Andrea Carlevarino – Elia reached the podium; something to which he has accustomed us in recent times, making it seem like an easy undertaking, but that is not the case. Now the hope is to also do well in the finals of the Italian championships in which we will present ourselves as protagonists. But we must not lower our concentration, there will be weeks in which we will have to work even harder and not lose sight of the goal.”
