Return match on Wednesday 22 May in Rome for Minetti’s team which concluded the regular season undefeated league leaders.
A large and generous victory in terms of play and result, underlines the Tuscan club, “against a well-organised opponent who was always in the game despite the technical and physical gap that emerged in the central phase of the match”.
Daniele Ruffelli, Lazio coach: “Congratulations to Florentia because today they definitely have it deserved. They are a complete and well-trained team. There’s a reason they’ve won every game they’ve played at home this year. We held on for almost two halves, but it’s not enough. We can do better and we will try to prove it on Wednesday by trying to take the series to game 3.”
For Minetti’s team, queen of the Northern group, it illustrates the club, a quiet start redeemed by two front-wheel drive halves with a partial plus six at the third half and a final match already with the head on the return leg. For Lazio a big approach and a final and crescendo, punctuated by a decisive break entirely by the red and white factory, which from the end of the first half to the fifth of the third half kept the Romans without a goal for seventeen consecutive minutes, thanks to a penalty saved by Cicali who does an encore at the end of the third half.
Game two will take place on Wednesday in Rome, which could already be decisive in the event of a victory for Florentia, or reopen the games and postpone everything until next Saturday, in the event of a victory for Lazio.
