Divided by politics, united by solidarity

Solidarity goes beyond political barriers. We saw it last Saturday at ‘Tin Bota Romagna’, the party organized in via Ex Tiro a Segno, one of the streets most damaged by the flood of 16 May 2023. The organization of the party was centered above all on two figures: Francesca Sirri , owner of the Champions River gym, one of the structures devastated by the flood, and Valdo Bonfim of the Sem Fronteiras association who collected donations for his Brazilian compatriots from Rio Grande del Sud where there was a flood a few weeks ago. Both Francesca Sirri and Valdo Bonfim are also involved in politics and candidates in the local elections of 8 and 9 June: Francesca is a candidate in the ranks of Fratelli d’Italia in support of the centre-right mayoral candidate Marco Casali, Valdo is on the list with Cesena 2024 in support of the outgoing mayor Enzo Lattuca. The different political orientations did not prevent Francesca and Valdo from actively collaborating, together with many other volunteers, in the organization of the party which attracted over 500 people attracted by music, Romagna and ethnic barbecues, but above all by the spirit of solidarity and community cohesion which made it possible to overcome the enormous difficulties caused by the flood.
