After the ‘verning’ hosted at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia tennis event, the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup trophy was the protagonist of another foray into another discipline. On Sunday 19 May it was His Majesty’s turn to host beautiful moments in the sport of diamonds, on the day dedicated by Udinese to the partnership with the Italian Baseball Softball Federation.

In the pre-match of the fundamental match against Empoli, the green carpet of the Bluenergy Stadium was seen Giulia Longhi, Ilaria Cacciamani, Elisa Cecchetti, Marta Gasparotto, Noemi Giacometti And Melany Sheldon first to pose with the trophy symbol of the World Cup which will be played a few minutes from the stadium from 15th to 20th July, then they invited the 25,000 people present to support them in their championship commitment at Castions di Strada.

First outing, on friendly terrain, also for Mandythe World Cup mascot that personifies the eagle, symbol of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, created by Federico Cautero of Italy QB.

Meanwhile, the guest of honor of the Udinese Club House, Mike Piazza was interviewed by Francesco Pezzella together with the FIBS President Andrea Marcon in the splendid Auditorium of the Friulian facility.

The interview was a journey through the stellar career and emotions in blue of the Technical Commissioner of the National Baseball team, the visceral love for Italy cultivated in the family and also an opportunity to talk about the development program that aims to qualify for the Olympics of Los Angeles, a program that the host defined as a double bond between the Italian manager and the federal President.

“We must build on the great passion that animates baseball people in Italy – he said Square – and take that extra step that leads to the creation of an Italian baseball culture. Young people are the key and internationalization is the tool to create opportunities for our talents to play high-level matches, bringing together the great passion for the game and for the blue shirt, with the support of all those who share it, they come from wherever this culture has already developed.”

“Thanks to the figure of Mike – underlined the President Marcon – and the enormous attention that the Italy he built has attracted with the 2023 World Baseball Classic, we receive continuous requests for meetings and the start of collaborative projects from important organizations from all over the world. I’m talking about Major League franchises, American colleges, but also Taiwan and the Korean professional league. Many appointments, clinics and gaming opportunities will start in October for Club Italia LA28 which will thus begin the season extension program with quality activities starting with the Haarlem Week in July.”

After the usual photos and the “good luck” to the girls, the ball passed to Udinese and Empoli, protagonists of a match with a heart-pounding finish to say the least.

In the photo, together with President Marcon, the Italians and Mike Piazza, Magda Pozzo, Strateging Marketing Director, and Franco Collavino, General Director of Udinese (ML FIBS).

From Udine, Marco Landi
